The NSW Transport Workers Union sold out Taxi drivers back in 1984. Taxi drivers voted with their feet.
During 90s, the TWU leadership promised to do the right thing and accepted their mistakes of 80s. They also told us to advise them to do the right thing. We joined and worked hard. We did the research and taxi driver membership went up. Unfortunately we found out the TWU leaderships were stabbing our back. Fight continued from inside and outside TWU. The Taxi Drivers Association (TISA) was formed and agitation continued. Evidence of such agitations could be traced in the media of that time and other instrumentalities.
Later the
Apart from the congenital corrupt nature of the NSW TWU, the winnings and losses of ours are combined.
Today, we are facing some unwanted difficulties. The TDA is not working for our members' welfare. Some individuals think and present themselves as more valuable than others! Some peoples are bringing cunning and dishonest technicalities to stifle free and fair debates.
The good work of Alan Cook (Cook Reports) went down the drain under the guise of "taxi driver task force". Poor Alan lost plenty for being honest and trying to clean up the taxi industry for the benefit of the entire community. The Nexus plate rots and many other criminal scams are up and in full swing. Taxi drivers' safety and many more vital issues are not getting the priority.
To complicate our life, the Mac Bank/Lime is doing very nicely. Even the Cabbie Magazine's Peer Lindhodlt is hoodwinking us. Many drivers and owners do not wish to touch his magazine anymore. David Bradley and Michael Jools are not helping the issue either.
The challenge is in front of us. The issues are;
1. The combined interest of bailee drivers and single cab owners or
2. Private interest of a few individuals!
Should you wish to make a change then please join the TDA, get informed and involved – protect your rights through democratic means and process available to you and me!
The NSW TDA ought to be open, transparent and accountable. We can not afford dirty tricks and deceptive conducts.

The following blogs can provide a pretty good picture of the NSW taxi industry.
Please also note, The NSW TDA does NOT represent PLATE OWNERS! They are supposed to represent bailee taxi drivers!!
Yet, for some strange reason, some of the remaining NSW TDA leadership is committed to stopping the further issuing of new taxi plates. Furthermore, they are not interested in addressing any of the many other burning issues affecting bailee taxi drivers!
May the president please inform the committee and a few open and secret meetings between Anne Turner and the taxi industry mandarins may be instrumental for this strange direction.
It is reported in the Sydney Morning Herald that the taxi mafia managed to silence and sabotage 20 inquiries and outcome of those inquiries! It is also evident that the taxi mafia is influencing the NSW TDA too!

Re: Breach of Duty of Care Provision of the NSW OH&SA by Inciting the Traveling Public against the Taxi Drivers of NSW
Dear Sir/Madam
NSW Taxi Council Pty Ltd (NSWTCPL) has delivered a Christmas present for taxi drivers by inciting the traveling public through various means, including the attached brochure. This private profit making company has also used false representation and false advertising on the brochure concerned by specifically putting themselves forward as the NSW Taxi Council when in fact it is not a "council" or anything of that nature. This NSWTCPL does not represent the taxi industry or drivers in the first place. Most importantly, the claim of "Cherry picking" has no foundation whatsoever.
For your kind information I am appending NSWTCPL brochure on "Cherry Picking", TAXI COUNCIL ON "CHERRYPICKING" and Taxi Driver Bashing of the NSW Taxi Council Pty Ltd. As reported in the 7.30 Report on ABC that Cabcharge P/L and companies connected with the NSW TCPL are financial contributors to the NSW Labor Party and I hope because of those financial links, justice and fairness won't be compromised.
I therefore request you to take the necessary action by prosecuting the NSW Taxi Council Pty Ltd and to further prevent any breaching of the Duty of Care Provisions of the NSW OH&SA due to NSW TCPL's blatant and wrongful incitement towards the taxi traveling pubic against the taxi drivers of NSW.
